Our #RodeoHouston2019 Experience

I am so proud of Jose and I, we’ve actually stuck to our 2019 promise and have stayed in Houston most of our weekends. We spend them by going to the gym, working from our laptops, hanging out with friends, hosting our families and exploring what the city has to offer.

A major event occurring right now is the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. In case you missed this post, I briefly shared how the festivities kicked off – with the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que (BBQ) contest. The weekend after the BBQ contest ends, the committees also organize a parade and rodeo run that goes through downtown. It was our first year attending the parade so I was quite excited to go! The city was filled with happy people and it was neat to see a large crowd. I was mesmerized by the elaborate floats and enjoyed the marching bands as they played their hearts out for the audience. The weather wasn’t too shabby either, but then again, we left as soon as it started sprinkling.

Since we live in downtown, we walked to the parade. We arrived a little after 10a and still managed to get a good view. Like most parades, a lot of people took their folding chairs. I noticed plenty of garages offering parking for as little as $5. If you have little ones, I highly suggest to add this family-friendly activity to your to-do list in the coming year. I loved watching other people’s kiddos having a blast. If you don’t have kids, I’d still recommend to go at least once for the experience. Afterwards, you can go brunch at a nearby restaurant since you’re already in the city with the most delicious and diverse food in America. Our food scene has been recognized here, here, here, and about three years ago here, so it would be crazy not to verify for yourself.

I also would like to take this moment to say Kacey Musgraves put on a helluva performance! We had an absolute blast. I was blown away by her talent and the crowd went crazy when she sung “Como la Flor,” which is the last song Selena performed at her last show at the Rodeo Houston in 1995.

The last thing to check out this year is the carnival. We’ve gone a few times before but I don’t think we went last year. I am not a huge fan of wild rides (due to motion sickness) but I love to go for the food. I’ll update this post after we go and let you know of all the must-haves.

Well, that is it for tonight. I wish you a successful and productive rest of the week.
