We had a little fun last night by having a…VISION BOARD PARTY! Because wine not? This has been on my list since late last year and never got around to it. Happy I was able to convince Jose to do his too! (Otherwise, it would’ve been a sad party of one – haha!)
So what’s a vision board? I first came across this concept when I read The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. A vision board is meant to represent BIG goals, hopes, and dreams. The following statement is up for debate – the goals must be attainable. I hate to even spell that out but I feel it’s necessary. It’s important to dream big. But you also must be true to yourself by aligning your goals with what you truly desire and believe. For example, I wouldn’t paste a photo of a professional soccer player because that would be absurd; I don’t play soccer. Another example is, I wouldn’t paste a photo of a high-end restaurant in NYC because I don’t desire to own such thing. I hope this logic makes sense. (If you’re curious what’s on mine, it includes travel, adventures, experiences, multiple beautiful and luxurious homes, and a lot of phrases I wholeheartedly live by and always want to live by. Aspirations for years to come.)

After you’ve completed your vision board, I recommend to hang it in your room, closet, or somewhere where you will see it every single day. This is your daily motivation to work hard towards your dreams, to hold yourself accountable, and to stay focused on the big picture. Often times we get wrapped up in the small stuff, we forget to take a step back, and look at the big picture. (I still do this sometimes!) One of my favorite quotes is by Robert Collier, “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” Meaning, if we put in the work every single day, eventually our hard work will lead us to the goal we have set for ourselves.
Here’s what you’ll need to create your very own vision board:
- A large piece of presentation board or card stock paper
- Decorative or regular tape (depends on your taste)
- Gluestick
- Magazines
- Big visions, hopes, and dreams
To create a party out of this activity, because let’s be honest, we must keep things super extra right now with this whole social distancing thing, pull out your special platters for hosting and serve all the cheese, crackers, veggies, etc. And drink your favorite bottle of wine, or champagne. (Or you can also make my latest creation, the oh-so-fresh cocktail.)
A little extra never hurt nobody.
