September is known as Self-Improvement Month. This is a subject I am passionate about because I believe in always striving to be the freaking best! Coincidence or not, Sep. 6th is also National Read a Book Day. Pretty perfect, huh?
You + A Book with Tools for Self-Improvement = A Better You
It was my goal to share a list of my all-time favorite books on Sep. 6th, but if you follow me on instagram, then you know I was at the veterinary hospital with precious Tinker Bell so it was impossible to publish this blog post then.
Thankfully, Tinker Bell is recovering pretty well so I have high hopes she will stay with us a little longer. Also, thanks to everyone who reached out, we sincerely appreciate your prayers.
Before sharing the list of books that have contributed to my personal and professional development so far, I’d like to let you know that I was really never into reading. I was only forced to read through college…can you relate? And although I was reading material I was (somewhat) interested in, I never read with the enthusiasm and excitement that I have now. Oh how times have changed…just like my taste for wine has changed. No more moscato for this gal!
So here goes my list of books I highly recommend for self-improvement:
- The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
- Wishes Fulfilled: Mastering the Art of Manifesting by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
- The Happiness Advantage: How a Positive Brain Fuels Success in Work and Life by Shawn Achor
- The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle
If you clicked through the links, you’ll notice each book was between $9 – $15, super affordable! What I love most about these books is that they are practical, easy to follow, and read. If you want to take it to the next level, begin journaling. Capture your current state, mood, thoughts, etc. and don’t forget to write down your goals too. I believe writing your goals hold you somewhat accountable. In the end, it’s all up to you on reaching them or not, right? And my idea behind capturing your current state, mood, etc. is the reward of later seeing how far you’ve gotten.
I really hope you’ve taken something away from today’s post. If you have a book that has helped improve any area of your life, please send it over! I must read at least three more books before the year ends.
Have an awesome Monday,
