The Rundown: Casa Kimberly in Puerto Vallarta

I’m excited to share everything you need to know about Casa Kimberly in Puerto Vallarta. I’ve been here for dinner a few times, and it never disappoints. If you’re planning a trip to this vibrant beach town, don’t forget to check out my full guide to things to do in Puerto Vallarta for first-timers – Casa Kimberly is the perfect addition to your itinerary.

The hotel sits right in the heart of the city, with stunning views over Banderas Bay and the Sierra Madre Mountains. It is no surprise that it was once the home-away-from-home for none other than Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, who fell in love with the place (and each other) during the filming of The Night of the Iguana in 1962.

A Glimpse Into Casa Kimberly’s History

Casa Kimberly was born from two quaint casitas that Elizabeth and Richard once owned. Over the years, it’s been beautifully restored into a boutique hotel while preserving its original charm and history.

One of the most iconic features is the pink marble heart-shaped tub commissioned by Elizabeth herself. You’ll also find the same pool she and Richard once swam in, and the famous Puente del Amor (“Bridge of Love”), which still connects the two casitas today. This bridge was built so the two lovers could visit each other in private, away from paparazzi – a romantic touch that remains part of Casa Kimberly’s allure.

Why Casa Kimberly Puerto Vallarta Deserves a Visit

Even if you’re not staying overnight, Casa Kimberly in Puerto Vallarta is worth visiting for the architecture alone. Envision grand archways, hand-painted tiles, antique furnishings, and sparkling chandeliers that instantly transport you back to Hollywood’s golden era. I always feel inspired leaving the place.

Each of the nine suites features unique antiques, crystal chandeliers, and modern bathrooms, with patios overlooking Puerto Vallarta. It’s the kind of place that captures the city’s glamour and charm all in one. Cannot wait to stay here one day!

Dining at The Iguana Restaurant & Tequila Bar

If you love incredible food paired with a view, The Iguana Restaurant & Tequila Bar at Casa Kimberly should be at the top of your list. The open-air rooftop overlooks the city and Banderas Bay, serving traditional Mexican dishes with a modern twist. It is the perfect setting for a romantic or celebratory dinner.

Highly recommend the pan-seared fish fillet – it’s pure perfection.

Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time, especially during peak season. You can find them on Open Table or book through their website here.

Final Thoughts

Even though I’ve only dined at Casa Kimberly Puerto Vallarta (and not stayed overnight), it’s one of those places that leaves a lasting impression every single time. Between the timeless architecture, romantic history, and exquisite dining experience, it perfectly embodies the glamorous spirit of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.

If you appreciate beautiful design, history, and unforgettable views – Casa Kimberly in Puerto Vallarta deserves a spot on your travel list.

    1. Hi Millie! Yes, they do allow visitors without staying at the hotel. Just be sure to make reservations if you are visiting the restaurant.
