Shopping for my wedding dress was a memorable experience! I cannot believe I found it during my first appointment. Living in Houston made it tough to pick a wedding gown store because there were many to choose from! It was an intimidating process because I was shopping for THE dress. The dress I fantasied about since the day I got engaged!
After reading 10,000+ online reviews for (almost) every store in Houston, I made up my mind on Whittington Bridal located in Kingwood, TX. The Knot was really who convinced me to go there. Honestly, is there a better source? To all of my knotties-to-be, The Knot can simplify your life – especially if you are a busy “profreshional”.
One of the things I really wanted to get out of my shopping experience was intimacy. I did not care for everyone’s opinion…perhaps “Say Yes to the Dress” ruined my perception on how wrong wedding dress shopping can go if you invite everyone and their mama. If you watched (or watch) the show, you should know what I am talking about. My mom, stepmom and aunt were the only ones to witness the special moment. I wish my sisters could’ve been there, but with crazy schedules, we couldn’t make it happen.
First things first, the Whittington Bridal team was amazing to shop with! The girls were helpful, friendly, customer service oriented, organized and so much fun. If you don’t follow them on the gram, you are missing out on some of the funniest vids too! I seriously love their culture and brand; I recommend them to everyone in the area. As a matter of fact, my cousin who is set to get married in November, bought her dress from them as well! And she drove 100+ miles just to get to them! They know their stuff and have a beautiful selection to choose from for every budget. Oh…and they treat you with mimosas!
Now let’s get to the nitty gritty deets of this beautiful gown! And yes, I am being VERY biased! I mean c’mon…look at this gorgeous piece of art!
You can bet I was inspired by gown designer, Berta. I think the woman is brilliant when it comes to designing stunning gowns! If I would have splurged on one of her gowns then I would have settled for a local wedding – it was one or the other. And I chose Cabo. I have no regrets though…I LOVED my dress by Calla Blanche (click here for more on my dress). I loved the fit, style, color and design! I was comfortable sitting, walking, using the ladies room and dancing! Talk about priorities. All of those verbs were important aspects to choosing the gown because I sure as hell was not going to spend money on a dress unless I could do all of those things with no assistance.
And just like when you know you’ve found the one/your guy/hubby, it is no different when you try on THE dress. It is a special moment. Not going to lie, I was super nervous about trying on dresses in front of my mom and stepmom. I think they are both opinionated women and was afraid we wouldn’t love the same dress. But as soon as they saw me in it, they told me it was my dress. And I couldn’t stop smiling.
If I could give a tip or two to those in search of the perfect gown, I would say pick the dress your gut says yes to, the one that makes you feel beautiful.
The feeling is quite magical.
Sweet memories. The last photo captured the moment when reality hit me…I was minutes away from marrying the man of my dreams. I tried so hard not to cry, or let the tears run down my face, but I couldn’t help it.
Planning for a wedding can be stressful but shopping for your dress should be fun and exciting! Wishing all the bride-to-be’s a wonderful shopping experience!
