Shopping for my wedding dress was a memorable experience that I will always hold close to my heart.

Living in Houston made it tough because there are SO many places to choose from. After reading hundreds of reviews about almost every major bridal store in Houston, I ended up choosing Whittington Bridal located in Kingwood, TX. (I’ll link their website here.) Shoutout to The Knot, a great resource for bride-to-be’s, because that’s what helped me narrow down my search.

I was never the type of girl who fantasied about my wedding dress as a little girl. It wasn’t until he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. After that moment, I would daydream about the magical day and wedding dress.

One of the things I really wanted to get out of my wedding dress shopping experience was intimacy. I wanted a safe and welcoming space that allowed me to be comfortable.

Also, I wasn’t interested in the opinion of others. It is safe to say that the “Say Yes to the Dress” show made me realize how wrong shopping for your wedding dress can go. Because of this, I only wanted my main ones present – my mom and stepmom. Sadly, my sisters couldn’t tag along.

About Whittington Bridal

Whittington Bridal is located in Kingwood, TX, which is about 45 minutes north of Downtown Houston. It was established in 2011 by Jenna Whittington and Kari Whittington – two sister-in-laws who went to Texas A&M University. (Whoop!)

These two ladies knew something was missing after getting engaged and shopping for their wedding dresses. They believed brides deserved better so they sought to create this experience and Whittington Bridal was born.

Today, Whittington Bridal, is one of Houston’s best-rated bridal salon. They’re known for their generosity, amazing service, and attention to detail.

My Wedding Dress Shopping Experience with Whittington Bridal

Shopping for my wedding dress at Whittington Bridal was incredible. The girls were super helpful, friendly, organized, and so much fun. Their fun brand and culture shined through, and made me love them even more.

We started the process by showing them photos of wedding dresses I had my eyes on. At the time, I was especially in love with gown designer, Berta, so I also showed them photos of my favorite Berta styles. To help me select THE dress, I was also open to trying on dresses I wasn’t considering. I wanted to make sure I was making the right decision.

After talking through a few styles, the girls pointed me in the right direction, and handed me clips so that I could handpick my top dress picks. I blessed my mom and stepmom with one dress pick so they could feel a part of the process and to see what they would choose. After selecting our top picks, I went to the dressing room and started to try each one.

The process of elimination was very natural. We were all on the same page about what looked best on me and what wasn’t working for me. This was the part I was most nervous about. I was afraid to fall in love with a dress that both of my mom’s wouldn’t love. I am so happy that wasn’t the case.

Whenever I tried on my dress, the one I ended up purchasing, we all knew it. And there was no denying it.
