Happy, happy August! Happy Monday! It’s time to recalibrate if you haven’t done so already. I am excited for this month because I’ll be completing my Adobe course with Skillshare. Learning a new skill is my love language – I love learning new things everyday. For those who don’t follow me on IG, I’ve been sharing a bit of what I’ve been up to these last couple of weeks through stories. I finally mustered enough courage to sign-up for Skillshare and you can bet I will be taking advantage of my first TWO FREE months.
What is Skillshare?
I first learned about Skillshare through podcasts. I want to say it was Jenna Kutcher, host of the Goal Digger podcast, who introduced me to Skillshare sometime last year. Skillshare is an online resource to either share a skill or learn a skill. There is a variety of online courses covering a vast amount of topics.
I signed up for the Graphic Design Masterclass since I am interested in mastering Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. The class seemed like the appropriate introductory course. Last week, I completed the design theory chapters and currently finishing up the Photoshop portion. I must say, I am blown away by the quality, thoughtfulness, and production that went into developing this specific class. (Thanks to the creator, Lindsay Marsh!) She sometimes goes a little too fast but I just stop and rewind to really absorb the information. You can bet I am pretty determined on making the most of this experience.
Once I complete the Adobe course, I plan to take a photography class. Let’s be real – ya’ girl could use some help, haha! Anyway, I put Skillshare on hold for the longest time because I wasn’t in a place to dedicate time to yet another thing. I really believe you have to set time aside in your calendar to stay committed, and finally, I am in a place where I am able to do this. (I mean, let’s be real, I feel like I am going 100 MPH most times, but like I said, if it’s in my calendar, I’ll do it!)
Want to learn a new skill with Skillshare?
If you’re interested in exploring what Skillshare has to offer, stop procrastinating and make it happen! They are currently offering two free months if you sign-up now. All you have to do is sign-up, register to a class, and block time in your calendar to complete the course. It is super easy to do, it took less than five minutes to find exactly what I was looking for. (By the way, the podcast I am currently listening to has a code to get two free months – http://www.skillshare.com/skinny).
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate in reaching out via email at mrsprofresh@gmail.com or through Instagram. I would be happy to answer your questions!
Ps. I created the cover of this blog post on Photoshop 😉 Something I found so confusing to use at one point…needless to say, I am excited about the creative possibilities!
