I’ve Been Using The Monk Manual 90-Day Planner

Monk Manual 90-Day Planner

If you don’t believe this blog post is proof of what I spoke into existence, I have not done a good job of sharing the power of The Law of Attraction. On that blog post, I stated, “I think it would be ideal to find a planner that combines aspects of journaling…but that’s just me.” Well, guess what? I spoke it into existence. I’ve been using the Monk Manual 90-Day Planner, which is exactly what my heart and soul yearned for in a planner.

What is the Monk Manual 90-Day Planner?

The first time I heard about the Monk Manual was when my husband, Jose, asked if I wanted to join him in completing a “Monk Manual”. The word monk immediately captivated my attention and was intrigued to learn more. Basically, it is a 90-day planner created to capture mindfulness and productivity, which is everything I described I wanted in a planner/journal last year on this blog post. By the way, it is pretty cool to see proof of what I specifically desired and see it come true.

Why Monk?

The reason it is called the Monk Manual is because their inspiration came from the lifestyle of monks. Their website stated the following so beautifully, “For over 2,000 years men and women have set out for the hills, fields and mountains to become Monks — searching for happiness, freedom, peace, joy, balance, fulfillment, confidence, stability, passion and God. Who says the rest of us can’t have the same thing?

And the creators of the Monk Manual are absolutely correct – who says the rest of us can’t have the same thing?

In 2019, I had a planner for the entire calendar year that allowed me to capture more than just my to-do list and goals. It was a real treat completing that planner on a daily basis because at the end of each month, I had the opportunity to reflect on my goals, desires, and dreams. Needless to say, it was difficult to find the planner again to use it the following calendar year – 2020. Long story short, I settled for the next best planner. Well, that was until the Monk Manual came into my life.

Why is it so unique?

The Monk Manual is incredibly unique because it was designed to plan, prep, and organize by the month, week, and day. The pages for each month, week, and day were designed to capture various aspects of life, including: habit insights, meaningful moments, biggest accomplishments, and so much more. There is also space to capture great ideas, inspirational thoughts, or whatever is on your mind. Needless to say, this monk manual has been just that – a monk manual. It has taught me to live an even more intentional, joyous, and meaningful life.

If you look through their website, you’ll also notice how much thought went into creating the resources on how to best maximize your Monk Manual. The thoughtfulness that went into creating the videos, files, and pages explaining how to use each page is unreal. As soon as our Monk Manuals arrived, we spent about three hours going through the videos and PDF files to ensure we knew how to best use our manuals. The creators understood how daunting journaling can be for some people and they did an amazing job providing examples on what to write for each section included in the manual.

10 Key Takeaways of Utilizing the Monk Manual 90-Day Planner

Because of this newly discovered way of organizing my goals, prioritizing my tasks, reflecting on my personal growth, and so much more, I’ve noticed to be much more focused, disciplined, fulfilled, and less anxious. For the past (almost) 90 days, I’ve learnt to:

  1. Value time
    • This is no secret – time flies. And with each passing year, it goes by even faster.
  2. Stay on track
    • How many times do you get distracted by the dumbest things throughout the day? Well, when you know what needs to be completed, you slowly start to turn away from those distractions. It takes time but it certainly is possible.
  3. Take it slow
    • If you only knew how impactful this has been for this fast-paced world we live in…although, I think 2020 forced everyone to take it slow.
  4. Make time for new habits
    • Habit stacking is something I am constantly working on and need reminders to make time for those new habits.
  5. Intentionally serve
    • Serve my husband, family, friends, and strangers. After all, there is so much more to life than living for ourselves. My mission is to leave this world a better place.
  6. Improve relationships
    • Each week, I write down how to improve my relationships. Whether it’s the relationship with my husband, parents, sisters, brothers, or colleagues, I strive to strengthen those relationships.
  7. Track personal growth
    • Whether it’s reading a new book, taking a new online course, or learning a new skill, personal growth is important. It’s even more important to track it though.
  8. Stop overcommitting
    • Who else has a problem with this? Once you lay it all down, and see how much you’re doing, I bet you’ll slowly start to take a step back without feeling guilty.
  9. Recognize accomplishments
    • I am SO far from reaching my biggest goals yet, however, I’ve learnt to celebrate the small wins. Life is too short to look past those accomplishments…
  10. Prioritize tasks
    • Psyching out over the small things was my old thing. Watch out world – you no longer dictate what’s important, I do.
